Van Lanier, Enrolled Agent
Van Lanier founded the Pilots Tax Center and directly manages every case. He has 45 years of experience and specializes in IRS Collections and Appeals matters. Van and his staff are based in Herndon, Virginia.
Van is federally-licensed to represent you before the IRS in any state, in all tax matters, without limitation. In addition to being an Enrolled Agent, Van is a Certified Tax Resolution Specialist and Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute.
Van holds an MBA in finance, and completed a Three-year post-graduate program in tax law and IRS procedure.
In mid-career, Van was National Director of Turnaround Consulting for KPMG Baymark, and Assistant Director Congressional Affairs for a financial regulatory agency in Washington, DC. He has spent his adult life negotiating solutions to financial and tax problems and knows the ropes.
Van has served his community through Rotary and non-profit leadership. He is a volunteer advocate with the Community Tax Law Project of Virginia. Van has been married to the love of his life for 50 years. He and Peggy have Two strong sons and Four delightful grandchildren.
Van has held a Commercial pilot license since 1970. He has accumulated over 6,200 hours in 40 different airplanes, from Cubs to Barons. Van was a founding director of Mercy Medical Airlift, and is a recipient of the FAA Wright Brothers “Master Pilot” Award.
